Master Chung FN Big 1400 Taiwan Tuna Knife – Big Fish Knife

This FN Big 1400 is a hand forged ‘effin big fish knife by Master Chung, a 3rd generation knife maker. The black scale from the forge forms a natural protective coating that keeps the blade from rusting, and looks pretty cool, too. Made from high carbon spring steel, it has an RC hardness of 60-61 and weighs in at 1.4kg, or just over 3 lbs.

In the grand scheme of all the Taiwan Tuna Knives, this knife is bigger than the G-5 3XL and smaller than the FN Big 1500. The 1400 is meant to be used more like a zipper by using the weight to penetrate into, then push through and slice big fish like like Tuna, Mahi and swordfish. The big belly of the knife also acts as a cleaver that can cut through the bones, head and tail of the fish.

Knife care: Keep clean with warm water and soap. Towel dry immediately. Do not put into dishwasher. The edge steel can show signs of surface rust over time. Most surface rust can be removed by sharpening the edge or using a scotchbrite pad.
